Appearance:
Caucasian male, five feet seven, 160 pounds. Dark, unkempt hair, blue eyes. Wears wire-frame glasses and tends toward dark-colored clothing, favors black. Tends to wear at least one pendant-type necklace featuring an occult symbol or mythological creature (typically a pentacle and dragon). Carries and uses a black, lacquered wood cane. Mid to late twenties, maaaybe early thirties.

Personality:
For the most part, Jason's an easygoing kind of guy. He's a bookworm, both by trade and inclination, and he's quite happy to engage in companionable silence if a situation calls for it. Definitely not the kind of guy you expect to see moshing with werewolves on a Saturday night.

That said, he used to mosh with werewolves.

He's loyal to his friends, and has a strong protective instinct - he'll willingly sacrifice everything, from his peaceful life all the way up to his health and well-being, to keep His People safe. No, it doesn't matter that some of those 'people' are quite capable of breaking him in half most days. This tendency cost him most of his physical mobility, not too terribly long ago, but he's at least regained the ability to walk.

He's generally not interested in romance. It isn't that he doesn't have an aesthetic appreciation, but he feels that romantic entanglements would introduce severe impediments to his life in general, and his magic in particular. To be fair, his one girlfriend to date kind of bore that hypothesis out. He's not above flirting on occasion, though, and he has quite a few friends of both genders (and some beings that don't even *have* gender as we know it...)

Jason has almost no temper to speak of, and what he does have doesn't tend to last very long, with a few exceptions. Hurt him, hurt his business, hurt his home, he'll kick your ass, but he won't make it personal. His biggest sticking points are xenophobia and child abuse - either one will earn you his eternal ire.

History:
Jason led a fairly normal life for someone in the kind of world Demons is set in - his parents were normal, he wasn't, they shrugged it off and sent him to live with his weird grandfather. Grandpa taught him to use magic, let him take his own path, and eventually sent him back home. His parents passed away soon after, his grandfather followed them not even a month later, and he was left with a not inconsiderable amount of money and damn all to do with it.

So he opened an antique store. In the middle of a city overrun with vampires, werecreatures of varying types, and a cult dedicated to wiping them all out. They almost succeeded when they set loose a plague that targeted supernatural types, but Jason and a few others of his kind managed to mostly ward it off - at the cost of their own health.

Having decided he didn't really want to live near so many bad memories (or powerful enemies), he packed up everything and moved to Birchpointe. Where he now runs the same antique store. And I do mean the same one - he used translocation magic to move the whole damn building, contents and all, into an empty plot he bought inside the city.

Abilities:
Modified hermetic mage - Jason uses symbols to cast spells. These have an extremely broad range of power and scope, but he's unwilling to use direct combat magic in most cases, preferring to use augmentations on his allies instead. This doesn't mean he *can't* use combat magic - he's quite good at it - just that he prefers not to. He keeps a tacklebox full of useful, pre-prepared spells as an emergency kit inside his shop, as well as a couple of other goodies.

He used to be a fairly competent kickboxer in the capoeira style, but the plague that cost him his agility made sure he'd never be able to move fast enough to pull it off again. These days, he's more of a tactician than a fighter.
